Mudbugs cookin' in the pot.
Mudbugs are variously known as crawfish, crawdads, crayfish |
This is a mudbug
Pick out a nice one to practice your eatin' techniques on... |
Notice the two main parts of the mudbug: Head and Tail
Step 1. Pull the head off.
Grasp the mudbug firmly in one hand and pull the head off with the other hand...If you are right handed, I recommend using your right hand for pulling the head off. Makes it easier for Step 2. |
Step 2: Suck the head!
This is pretty simple. Some people have trouble with this step, though, because they think it's gross! But the cooking juices are in the head and a little meat, too! Go ahead! Try it! |
Step 3: Pull off first two legs.
This is very important to Step 4. You simply grab the first 2 legs (the ones closest to where the head used to be) and pull them off, taking the first section of the carapace (shell) along with 'em. |
Step 4: Pinch the tail.
Grasp the flipper between your thumb and forefinger and pinch, as if you were squeezing the end of a tube of toothpaste, kinda. Then take the meat which you exposed in step 3 in your teeth and pull it out!! |
